I’ve always really loved instant oatmeal packs that you can buy in the store…but I didn’t love all of the extra ingredients that came along in those instant oatmeal packs. So I set off to create a delicious oatmeal that would be quick and easy, homemade, and still delicious.
One of our favorite recipes is homemade maple cinnamon oatmeal. Made with rich whole milk from our family milk cow, the warmth from cinnamon, and the sweetness from maple syrup made from our small batch maple syrup operation, this recipe is a simple homestead breakfast.

You only need a few simple ingredients for this easy breakfast:
- Quick Oats: The texture and size of quick oats is like that you’d find in an instant oatmeal package.
- Maple Syrup: This acts as your natural sweetener in the oatmeal and gives it a wonderful flavor
- Cinnamon: Cinnamon adds warmth and flavor to the oatmeal
- Milk: We use whole milk for ours, often from our family milk cow, but any milk will work.
Steps to Making Homemade Maple Cinnamon Oatmeal
This hearty breakfast comes together in a few simple steps:
- In a medium-sized pot, add milk, maple syrup, quick oats, and cinnamon.
- Cook on low-medium heat until oats are softened and have absorbed some of the liquid (about 5 minutes). Stir frequently. That’s it!
