My kids love popsicles. They absolutely love them! And who can blame them, really? They’re a cold, refreshing, and delicious treat for those hot summer days.
But something I really don’t love is the ingredients list of those popsicles. There are some popsicles that you can purchase that are made organically with wholesome ingredients, but those are going to cost you more. So, I decided that I was going to create a frozen treat to satisfy my children’s popsicle cravings, yet still leaves me feeling happy with what they’re eating.
Enter the beautiful, simple, and easy-to-make 3 ingredient frozen yogurt treat. With very simple ingredients, you can whip together these healthy summer treats to enjoy on a hot evening on the front porch.
What You’ll Need to Make 3 Ingredient Frozen Yogurt
Like I said, I wanted this treat to be something that was wholesome and healthy for my kids. That means healthy and wholesome ingredients! To make this frozen yogurt treat, you’ll need just three ingredients:
- Maple Syrup
- Frozen Mixed Berries
- Whole Fat Vanilla Yogurt
These frozen yogurt treats are also very versatile. I’ve made them as popsicles and as just a frozen treat in a bowl. If you’re making popsicles, you’ll need popsicle molds. Check out these from Amazon!
The other thing you’ll need to make these frozen yogurt treats is a food processor. I have this Ninja food processor and absolutely love it! You can use it for making smoothies, slicing or shredding, or even mixing dough. If you don’t have one already, I highly recommend you check this one out!
Steps to Making Frozen Yogurt Treats
In your food processor, add 2 cups mixed berries, 2 cups of vanilla full-fat yogurt, and 2 Tablespoons of maple syrup. Everything is in twos! Puree until smooth.
Pour your berry yogurt mixture into popsicle molds if you’re choosing to use them, or into a large bowl.
Place the mixture in the freezer for 6-8 hours, or until the yogurt mixture has completely frozen.
That’s it!
Tips and Tricks
A few notes, tips, and tricks on these frozen yogurt treats:
- These aren’t going to be super creamy like ice cream. Because of the lower fat content than ice cream, you’ll find it’s more like a sorbet than a creamy ice cream. This will also mean allowing the bowl of frozen yogurt to sit out on the counter for 10-15 minutes before trying to scoop it out.
- Use hot water to remove popsicles. Dipping the popsicle molds into hot water before trying to remove them will help you get the popsicles out without breaking.
- Try out new variations! You can use any type of frozen berries you’d like for this! Instead of mixed berries, try out strawberries or raspberries. Or maybe a tropical fruit! All fruit tastes good with these!
