So, when we decided to make our maple breakfast sausage links at home, we turned to our trusted friends at The Bearded Butchers and their sweet maple breakfast links DIY bundle. In this post, we dive into how to use this DIY kit to make your own maple breakfast sausage simply at home.
Ingredients for Maple Breakfast Sausage Links
To make your own maple breakfast sausages at home, you will need only the following ingredients:
- 25-27 pounds of pork that you can debone (roasts work great)
- Sweet Maple Breakfast Links DIY Bundle from The Bearded Butchers
- This kit includes: Maple Seasoning (maple sugar, brown sugar, sea salt, spices, rice flour) and Breakfast Link Casings
Tools needed for Maple Breakfast Sausage Links
- Meat Grinder: We used this meat grinder from Amazon for our small batch processing.
- Sausage Stuffer and Stuffing Horn: We wanted to invest in a sausage stuffer that was going to last us our lifetime, so we got the MEAT! 15 lb. vertical sausage stuffer for our needs.
- Sharp Knife: These knives are really sharp, which is exactly what you want as you cut the breakfast links. This is also a great knife for deboning and cutting up the pork too!
- Large Container: You’ll need a food-grade container to hold the ground meat as it is grinding and for mixing in seasonings.
- Vacuum Sealer: A vacuum sealer allows you to freeze your meat well to keep for long term storage.
Steps to Making Maple Breakfast Sausage Links
The maple breakfast sausage links are really pretty straightforward to make. You can easily create 25 pounds of maple breakfast sausage links in an afternoon.
- Step One: De-Bone and Cut up the Pork. The first step in making maple breakfast sausage links is preparing your pork. You’ll want to debone the pork and cut it into small chunks that will be able to fit through your meat grinder.
- Step Two: Add seasonings. Next, you will add the maple seasoning pack to the pork pieces, making sure to mix it in well with your hands.
- Step Three: Grind the Pork. It’s now time to grind the meat using a coarse plate.
- Step Four: Grind the Pork Again. The final step before stuffing the maple sausage links is to grind the pork again using the same plate that you used previously.
- Step Five: Stuff the Maple Breakfast Sausage Links. It’s time to stuff the maple breakfast sausage links! You’ll want to use a sized stuffing horn to stuff the casings.
- Step Six: Twist and Cut the Maple Breakfast Sausage Links. Twist the breakfast sausage casings to form your desired sized sausage link, then cut using your Victorinox knife.
- Step Seven: Vacuum Seal and Freeze. Vacuum seal and freeze your finished maple breakfast sausage links for long term storage.

- Stuff the Maple Breakfast Sausage Links. It's time to stuff the maple breakfast sausage links! You'll want to use a 10 mm sized stuffing horn to stuff the casings.
- Twist and Cut the Sausage Links. Twist the breakfast sausage casings to form your desired sized sausage link, then cut using your Victorinox knife.
- Vacuum Seal and Freeze. Vacuum seal and freeze your finished maple breakfast sausage links for long term storage.
