I love to talk to my grandma about the olden days, and I especially love hearing about the way her mother used to cook for her family of ten. Grandma says her mom would make 8 loaves of bread per day and her older brother Tom would come home from school, butter up a loaf, and eat it all himself! One of the other foods she talks about her mom making is homemade pasta. In those days, purchasing pasta from the store wasn’t really much of an option. If you wanted pasta, it had to be homemade!
Once you’ve experienced fresh pasta, you’re never going to want to go back to the store bought stuff! It is really quite easy to make this no dry homemade pasta and takes just a little extra time for a lot better flavor! My kids steal these noodles as soon as they get out of the pot just to eat them plain!
I hope you try this homemade pasta recipe some night you’re craving pasta!
Ingredients for No Dry Homemade Pasta
The ingredients couldn’t be any more simple than this! All you need for this no dry homemade pasta is flour, salt, and water. Yes, that’s it!
Tools Needed
The pioneers oftentimes didn’t have fancy tools and gadgets to make their homemade food items, and I don’t either! The only tools I use to make this pasta are a nice bowl, a pizza cutter, my rolling pin, and then you’ll need a pot to boil them. Of course, there are tools out there to make the process of cutting the noodles easier such as a pasta maker. Using one of these pasta makers allows you to roll the dough thinly and then cut it uniformly to the size you prefer. If you’re someone who thinks they’ll be making pasta often, you might consider buying one of these!
No Dry Homemade Pasta
This easy no dry homemade pasta comes together with just three staple ingredients: flour, salt, and water. In no time you'll be enjoying a fresh bowl of delicious homemade pasta with your favorite topping that is sure to trump any store bought pasta!
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Fill a large pot halfway with water and bring to a boil. You'll come back to this later.
- In a bowl, stir together your salt and flour.
- Add your water slowly, mixing with a rubber spatula as you go. As it starts to become more of a dough-like consistency, use your hands to knead the dough and form a ball.
- On a very, very floured surface and with a floured rolling pin, roll out the dough as thin as you can without it breaking.
- Using a pizza cutter, cut the pasta into thin strips or desired thickness of pasta. The thinner the strips, the thinner the pasta.
- Place the strips of pasta dough into the boiling water until it floats to the top of the water (about 1-3 minutes).
- Remove pasta from boiling water and place on a plate. Serve with your favorite sauce or butter.
Notes
This recipe makes enough pasta for about two people. For more people, simply double, triple, or quadruple the recipe!
